Garfield loses to Branson in Division V state boys' soccer final

In a tightly contested battle for the inaugural CIF State Division V boys' soccer championship, the Garfield Bulldogs were unable to overcome a strong Branson School squad, falling 2-0 on Friday at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento.

The match remained a defensive stalemate for much of the first half, with both teams probing for an opening. The deadlock was broken just before halftime when Branson capitalized on a set-piece opportunity, heading home a well-placed cross to take a crucial lead into the break.
