Green Bay Packers Named Potential Suitor for RB Najee Harris

The Green Bay Packers might be looking to add a veteran presence to their backfield, with Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris emerging as a potential target. After four seasons with the Steelers, Harris is set to hit free agency, and the Packers are reportedly being mentioned as a logical suitor.

Harris, a former first-round pick, has been a workhorse back since entering the league. He has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his four seasons, showing durability and a punishing running style. However, the Steelers declined his fifth-year option, making him available this offseason.

For Green Bay, the fit makes sense. The Packers currently have Josh Jacobs as their lead back, but they lack depth behind him. Adding Harris would give them a powerful one-two punch and take some pressure off quarterback Jordan Love. Harris is also a capable receiver out of the backfield, which fits well with head coach Matt LaFleur's offensive scheme.

The question is whether the Packers are willing to invest in another high-priced running back. Jacobs is already under a significant contract, and Harris will likely command a deal worth around eight to ten million dollars per year. That is a lot of money to tie up in one position, especially when the team has other needs on defense and along the offensive line.

Still, the Packers have shown they are not afraid to be aggressive in free agency. If they believe Harris can help them make a deep playoff run, they might pull the trigger. For now, it remains a rumor, but one that makes a lot of sense on paper.
