The local high school sports scene saw a full slate of baseball and softball action this past Monday, with several key matchups taking place across the region.
On the baseball diamond, North Allegheny secured a solid 7-3 victory over Seneca Valley in a WPIAL Class 6A Section 1 contest. In Section 2 play, Hempfield emerged victorious with a 6-3 win against Canon-McMillan, while Mt. Lebanon posted a strong offensive performance.
The softball fields were equally busy. In a non-section game, South Fayette's offense was on full display in a decisive win. Elsewhere, Thomas Jefferson earned a section victory, and West Greene continued its strong season with another win.
Other notable results included a close triumph for Laurel Highlands softball and a win for the Yough baseball team. The day's events showcased the depth of talent among area student-athletes as teams continue their pushes through the heart of the spring season.
