A busy stretch of local sports and recreation activities is set for July 17 through July 26, offering something for athletes, families, and outdoor enthusiasts. The calendar includes youth sports camps, adult recreational leagues, and several key preseason events for high school and college teams.

On Friday, July 17, the city parks department will host a free youth soccer clinic at Riverside Fields from 9 a.m. to noon. The clinic is open to children ages 6 through 12 and focuses on basic skills and teamwork. Registration is required by July 15.

For college sports fans, the annual Summer Basketball Showcase takes place Saturday, July 18, at the university's main gymnasium. The event features scrimmages between local college teams and a skills competition starting at 2 p.m. Admission is free.

The following week, the high school football season unofficially kicks off with the "Meet the Teams" night on Tuesday, July 21, at Memorial Stadium. All six area high schools will hold brief practices and introductions starting at 6 p.m. Coaches will be available to discuss the upcoming season.

Adult recreation options include a co-ed softball tournament on July 25-26 at the Sports Complex. Teams of 10 to 15 players can register through July 22. A $100 entry fee covers two guaranteed games.

the community center is offering a week-long tennis camp for teens from July 20 through July 24. Sessions run daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and cost $40 per participant. Rackets are provided for those who need them.
