DeAndre Hopkins, the former Houston Texans All-Pro wide receiver, is trading in his cleats for a clipboard. Before the 2026 NFL season gets underway, Hopkins has accepted a coaching position with the Georgia Tech football program, marking a surprising and immediate pivot into the college ranks.

Hopkins, who spent nine seasons in Houston and established himself as one of the most reliable pass catchers of his generation, will work with the Yellow Jackets' wide receivers. The move comes after a winding NFL career that also included stints with the Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, and most recently the Kansas City Chiefs, where he won a Super Bowl ring in the 2023 season.

The decision to join Georgia Tech is notable for a few reasons. First, it keeps Hopkins in the game without the physical toll of playing.
