James Harden of the Cleveland Cavaliers has moved into 14th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list, surpassing Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson during the team's victory over the Miami Heat on Monday night. Harden entered the game needing 16 points to pass Robertson's career total of 26,710 points. He achieved the milestone with a step-back three-pointer late in the third quarter, finishing the night with 28 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds.
The 35-year-old guard now sits at 26,722 career points, trailing only legends like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant ahead of him. Harden's scoring climb has been a steady narrative this season, as he continues to adapt to a playmaking role alongside Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell. Despite averaging a career-low in field goal attempts, Harden has remained efficient, shooting 38% from beyond the arc.
Cleveland head coach J.B. Bickerstaff praised Harden's longevity and basketball IQ after the game. "He's a guy who changed how the game is played, and to see him pass a name like Oscar Robertson shows his consistency over the years," Bickerstaff said. The Cavaliers, now 34-18, hold the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, with Harden providing veteran leadership for a young core. Fans at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse gave Harden a standing ovation when the milestone was announced on the scoreboard. The team next faces the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.
