The Texas Rangers have posted their starting lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against the Washington Nationals. With the club looking to take the rubber match at Globe Life Field, manager Bruce Bochy has made a couple of notable tweaks to the batting order.
Marcus Semien gets the start at second base and will lead off, as usual. Corey Seager slots in at shortstop and hits second, hoping to build on his recent hot streak. The middle of the order features Josh Jung at third base batting third, followed by Adolis Garcia in right field. Nathaniel Lowe handles first base and hits fifth.
The outfield corners see a change, with Wyatt Langford moving to left field and Leody Taveras patrolling center. Jonah Heim is behind the plate, catching for the starter. The designated hitter spot goes to Justin Foscue, who gets a chance to provide some pop from the bottom of the order. The lineup is rounded out by Josh Smith at shortstop, though he will shift to the hot corner if needed late in the game.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 PM local time. The Rangers will send their ace to the mound, looking to close out the homestand on a winning note before hitting the road. The Nationals counter with a left-hander, which explains why Bochy stacked several right-handed bats in the top half of the order. Texas will need early run support against a Washington bullpen that has been shaky in the later innings this series.
