Following Thursday's UFC Freedom 250 press conference, the main event and co-main event fighters stepped up for the traditional staredowns. The event is scheduled for June 14 at the White House grounds, marking a historic venue for the promotion.
Lightweight champion Ilia Topuria will defend his title for the first time in the main event. He faces interim champion Charles Oliveira in a unification bout that has been building for months. Topuria, known for his undefeated record and knockout power, stared down Oliveira without blinking for nearly a full minute. Oliveira smiled and nodded, then pointed to the belt around Topuria's waist.
The co-main event features a heavyweight clash between former champion Ciryl Gane and rising contender Jailton Almeida. Both men looked calm but intense during their face-off. Gane, who has been working on his wrestling defense, stood tall while Almeida kept his hands low and his eyes locked.
Other fighters on the card also faced off, including a women's strawweight bout between Amanda Lemos and Tatiana Suarez. Suarez, returning after a long layoff, looked eager to get back in the cage. Lemos kept her expression blank.
The press conference itself ran smoothly, with no major outbursts or shoving. Both main event fighters kept their comments short, promising action on fight night. Tickets for the outdoor venue sold out within hours of the announcement. The UFC expects a record crowd for the unique setting.
The card also features several ranked contenders in the lightweight and welterweight divisions. Fighters are expected to weigh in on June 13. The event will air live on pay-per-view.
